Privacy Policy

Constellation is a morning journal app made by HMBL Labs, LLC. Your journal is the most personal thing an app can hold, so this policy is written to be read: what we collect, why, and what we never do with it. The short version — we collect the minimum needed to run the app, we do not show ads, we never sell your data, and your pages are yours.

What we collect

Account details. Your email address and, if you sign in with Apple, the name Apple shares. Used to create and secure your account.
Your journal. The morning pages and evening reflections you write. This is the app; without them there is no sky.
Stars and guiding stars. The intentions detected in your pages, the 2–4 long-term areas you set, and which stars you light. Derived from your own words.
Rhythm settings and timezone. Your morning and evening times, so invitations arrive during your day, not at 3am.
Push token. A device identifier that lets us deliver the reminders you asked for. Removed when you sign out.
Purchase records. When you subscribe, Apple processes the payment. We receive a receipt and subscription status, never your card details.

How AI is involved

Constellation sends the text of your page to Anthropic (the maker of Claude) to detect intention phrases, infer reminder moments, and write the short observation line at the day's close. That processing exists only to run those features. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models, and we do not build any profile of you from it. If the AI is unreachable, the app falls back to on-device detection and your journal keeps working.

What we do not do

No advertising, and no ad tracking of any kind.
No selling or renting your data. Ever.
No reading your journal for any purpose other than the features described above. There is no analytics profile of you beyond what is listed here.

Who processes data for us

Constellation runs on a small set of service providers who process data on our behalf:

Supabase — database and authentication (account, journal, stars). Your data is encrypted at rest.
Anthropic — the AI processing described above.
RevenueCat — subscription status and receipts.
Apple — payments, and sign in if you use Sign in with Apple.
Expo — push notification delivery.
Resend — delivers account emails like password resets.
Cloudflare — serves this website, with standard request logs.

A note on your words

Journal entries often contain sensitive things — health, family, work, feelings. We treat every page as private personal content. Notifications echo your own words back to you and go only to your device. No human at HMBL Labs reads your journal except if you explicitly share something with support.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from the Observatory inside the app, which permanently removes your account, journal, and sky from our systems. You can also email [email protected] and we will delete it for you.

Children

Constellation is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your data. Most of this is available directly in the app; for anything else, email us. Depending on where you live you may have additional legal rights, and we honor them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and note it in the app. We will not quietly weaken it.
